Malo e Lelei! Tonga Tourism Week -
Nuku'alofa, Tonga.
south-pacific.travel in conjunction with the Tonga Ministry of Tourism will
host “Tonga Tourism Week” from Monday 22 October to Friday 26 October 2007.
The weeklong activities in Nuku’alofa will consist of the
organisation’s Board of Directors meeting on Monday 22, Council of Ministers meeting on
Tuesday 23 to be followed by a serious of regional workshops organised
by south-pacific.travel with the technical and financial support from
PRO€INVEST. PRO€INVEST is a programme of the Group of ACP States and the European
Commission for the promotion of investment and technology transfers in ACP
countries. Its management has been entrusted to the Centre for the Development
of Enterprise (CDE) under the supervision of EuropeAid Cooperation Office of the
European Commission (EuropeAid).

The first workshop on Wednesday 24 October will be conducted by UNESCAP on
Tourism and Poverty Alleviation. Thursday 25 October will feature Cruise
Shipping in the Pacific and Friday 26 October will be the regional workshop on
Green Tourism.
Mr Tony Everitt, south-pacific.travel’s Chief Executive
said, “ this exciting week of events will be a great opportunity for Tonga to
showcase and highlight its tourism assets. The regional participants from
around the Pacific will get a chance to experience what Tonga has to
offer. These events will certainly attract long-term opportunities for
Tonga, he said”.
